Social Networking Sites

Facebook: This is a site that is much more close family and friends oriented. It's a great space where you can share your thoughts, photos, videos, and really anything with the people you know. It's also a site that constantly shows you your memories from past years to share with the people you experienced those things with.

Twitter: This is a very random, open site for anyone to go on and say pretty much anything on their mind. I mainly use Twitter as a source of comic relief because of the funny tweets and memes, but it's also a great news source! Not only are there many smaller news publications on Twitter, like Al-Jazeera or Now This, normal people themselves are always tweeting about newsworthy incidents that they see or experience. This is a great resource for people to post things and have a large outreach.

Tumblr: I used to use Tumblr more in middle school and high school than I do now but it's still a great place to share things with people who have similar interests as you. Nowadays, Tumblr and Twitter have similar content constantly being rotated between them but for the most part, Tumblr is much more of a blogging site that requires more time and effort to curate and gain a following. Generally, Tumblr is a place where people share images and text posts relating to the topic(s) their blog is about.

Instagram: Technically, this started out as an app for your phone but it now has a fully functioning website so I will count it as a social networking site. This might be the most popular out of the four sites I am discussing today because of how glamorous and beautiful people make their lives look on the site. It's a site where people share images of whatever they want, usually themselves, and interact with their friends and fans. In recent years, this site has become much more interactive with stories, IGTV, asking your followers questions, etc.
